What a dollar can buy in the U.S.

Even though inflation has lowered the value of the dollar over time and that the cost of living has risen, some things are still purchased for a dollar. Deals at dollar shops, garage sales, lotteries and items such as newspapers, seeds and even coffee can be had for a dollar. The U.S. dollar is still considered the world's reserve currency despite significant international currency reserve holdings in other countries.
