Most hernias occur in the thighs or groins. These types of hernias that occur in the groins are referred to as inguinal hernias. An inguinal hernia can be repaired by an open hernia surgery or a laparoscopic hernia surgery. A laparoscopic hernia surgery will cost you more compared to the open hernia surgery. This is because it is safer and produces fast results. Patients who undergo a laparoscopic surgery heal faster than those who undergo an open surgery.

Estimated costs for a hernia surgery

A recent study that was conducted on about 2 million patients indicated that the cost of an inguinal hernia surgery ranges between 4, 000 dollars to 6, 000 dollars. If you have an insurance, then you will pay a typical deductible amount. Most insurance firms charge about 900 dollars deductible a years to every family. This indicates that the patient will be required to pay between 700 dollars to 1100 dollars for his hernia.

An umbilical hernia is another common type of hernia. It occurs in the abdomen. The cost of hernia surgery without insurance ranges from 4,000 dollars to 11, 000 dollars for a laparoscopic hernia repair surgery. Those with an insurance pay between 700 to 2000 dollars. If you delay to repair your hernia, your doctor might recommend the use of biosynthetic mesh. The mesh cost between 20 to 120 dollars.
